Camp Quality ACT’s fifth annual Giggle Ball, was held at Hotel Realm in Canberra on Saturday 4th May. The event generated a massive buzz within the local corporate community, with funds raised in support of 270 local families who are facing cancer.
More than $447,000 has already been donated at previous ACT Giggle Ball events which have helped continue the work of several community programs including the Primary School Education Program.
The famous Camp Quality puppets visited Canberra in May, entertaining both children and adults alike. Several major corporates including Grosvenor Engineering Group sponsored the 2019 Giggle Ball which was attended by over 250 people.
During their Canberra stay, the visited nine Canberra schools and Canberra Hospital to educate kids about cancer and bring laughter to children’s bedsides.
May 2019 marks Camp Quality’s 35th anniversary and Camp Quality CEO Kylea Tink couldn’t have hoped for a better way to kick off the celebrations than with the annual Camp Quality Giggle Ball in the ACT.
“It may not be a fairy-tale, but it is magical in that, through our work, we change the story kids who have faced cancer tell as they grow up,” Kylea says. “Where cancer can steal a childhood, we give moments of fun, laughter and friendship back. It has never felt so good to celebrate being 35 years young!”
Monetary donations from the night will be used to fund several programs that allow kids facing cancer to be kids again, including Mini Camp, Family Fun Days and Family Camp.
Grosvenor Engineering Group provided much needed funds for the Giggle Ball. Adrian Anderson, Business Unit Manager – Canberra for Grosvenor Engineering Group said, “This is the first time we have been involved with the Giggle Ball. As a community minded business, we like to align the company with good causes. Camp Quality ACT plays an integral role in helping children and their families suffering from cancer.
“Since 2011, we have supported several charity events including the Ricky Stuart Fundraiser. We were happy to participate in the Giggle Ball which was a fun filled night and raised much needed funds for Camp Quality’s programs.”
Jessica Kercher’s daughter Jade was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and has received support and access to the important community services provided by Camp Quality ACT.
She comments, “Everyone at Camp Quality is amazing, generous, supportive and just incredible – the most beautiful bunch of people I have ever come across. The camps have allowed my three daughters to develop friendships with other children that have also had cancer. We are truly blessed to be a part of the Camp Quality family and will be forever in debt for all they have and continue to do for us.”
